Meta, the company that owns Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, said it will still look for diverse employees. But they will not focus on having a diverse group to choose from.
Amazon also said it is ending some programs about inclusion and representation. They want to have good outcomes instead of old programs.
Some other big companies like Walmart and McDonald’s are making similar changes. There is also pressure from some political groups against diversity efforts.
Critics say these changes hurt employees. They believe diversity programs help companies grow and keep talent.
