Sir Patrick Stewart, a famous actor from Britain, has died at the age of 86. His family said he died in his home in Los Angeles, California, in the United States. His wife, musician Sunny Ozell, cared for him before he died. His family also said he had Alzheimer’s disease and Lewy body dementia for a short time before his death.
Patrick Stewart was born in Mirfield, Yorkshire, in northern England, in 1940. He grew up in a poor family where life was often difficult. When he was a boy, a teacher introduced him to the plays of William Shakespeare, which made him interested in acting and theatre. This helped him begin his acting career, first with the Royal Shakespeare Company, and later on television and in films.
Sir Patrick Stewart became world-famous after 1987, when he played Captain Jean-Luc Picard in the popular American science-fiction TV series Star Trek: The Next Generation. He also became well-known as Professor Charles Xavier in the X-Men films. His death is a great loss to both theatre and film.
