Kate Middleton, the honorary Colonel of the Irish Guards, recently expressed her regret in missing a crucial rehearsal for the Trooping the Colour event. In an emotional letter to the regiment, Middleton praised their dedication and hard work in preparing for the upcoming ceremony.
Trooping the Colour is an annual celebration held in London to mark King Charles’ official birthday parade. Middleton, appointed as the honorary Colonel by Charles last year, expressed her deep honor in holding this position. Despite her absence at this year’s Colonel’s review, she extended her best wishes and good luck to all involved.
Due to her ongoing recovery, Middleton will be replaced by Lieutenant General James Bucknall at the traditional Colonel’s Review. While it remains uncertain if Middleton will attend the Trooping the Colour event, there are reports suggesting a possible appearance on the Buckingham Palace balcony.
The Princess of Wales, who has been out of the public eye since revealing her cancer diagnosis in March, may not return to her previous royal role. Nevertheless, the Irish Guards were deeply touched by Middleton’s letter and continue to wish her a speedy recovery. In a previous gesture of appreciation, Middleton covered a $2,500 tab for the Irish Guards at a regimental bar during the St. Patrick’s Day parade.
