Three men have filed a lawsuit against American Airlines, accusing the airline of racial discrimination. The men, Alvin Jackson, Emmanuel Jean Joseph, and Xavier Veal, along with five other Black passengers, were removed from a flight after a complaint about body odor. The lawsuit claims that the men were not seated together and did not know each other, and were removed from the flight solely based on their race.
American Airlines is currently investigating the allegations raised in the lawsuit. The lawsuit states that the men were told they had offensive body odor, but none of the plaintiffs were specifically accused of this. The men were eventually allowed to reboard the flight after experiencing a traumatic and humiliating ordeal.
This is not the first time American Airlines has faced accusations of racial discrimination. The lawsuit mentions previous incidents involving the airline targeting Black passengers. American Airlines has since implemented bias training and reviewed its complaint system following previous incidents.
In response to the lawsuit, an American Airlines spokesperson stated that they take all claims of discrimination seriously and are committed to providing a positive experience for their customers.
