Celine Dion’s Fight Against Stiff Person Syndrome: Battling with up to 90 Milligrams of Valium

Celine Dion, the renowned singer, recently shared her struggles with stiff person syndrome and how it led her to take dangerously high doses of Valium. In an interview with NBC News, Dion revealed that she was prescribed Valium to manage the symptoms of this autoimmune neurological disorder. However, her tolerance to the drug increased over time, and she found herself taking as much as 90 milligrams daily.

Despite not fully understanding the risks, Dion continued to rely on Valium, highlighting the potentially fatal consequences of her actions. Eventually, she made the decision to reduce her intake of the drug, with the help of doctors, during the COVID-19 lockdown. Unfortunately, this decision resulted in her symptoms worsening, leading her to publicly disclose her diagnosis with stiff person syndrome in December 2022.

Dion’s openness about her health struggles will be further explored in her upcoming documentary, “I Am: Celine,” set to release on Amazon Prime Video. Despite the challenges she has faced, Dion remains determined to return to the stage and share her voice with the world once again.
