US rock band Train recently mourned the loss of their founding member, Charlie Colin, who passed away at the age of 58. Describing him as “the sweetest guy,” the band paid tribute to Colin, who was their original bass player. A picture from 2013 shows Colin in his element, contributing to the band’s early success.

Formed in San Francisco in 1993, Train achieved commercial success with their hit song “Drops of Jupiter” in 2001. Although Colin departed from the band in the early 2000s, Train continued to thrive, releasing another major hit, “Hey Soul Sister,” in 2009. Lead singer Patrick Monahan has been at the helm of the band, steering them through various musical journeys.

Colin’s impact on Train’s early years was significant, with his unique bass playing and guitar work helping the band garner attention both in San Francisco and beyond. Despite parting ways with the band, Colin remained involved in the music industry, providing guitar work and background vocals for other musical projects.

Train’s musical journey continued with successful tours alongside bands like Barenaked Ladies and Counting Crows. The band achieved platinum status with their album “My Private Nation” in 2003 and continued to release popular songs like “Drive By” in 2012.

Train’s most recent studio album, “AM Gold,” released in 2022, marked a triumphant return after five years. With a legacy of hits and a dedicated fan base, Train continues to captivate audiences with their music, carrying forward the memory of their beloved founding member, Charlie Colin.
