Richard Lewis, a well-known comedian and actor, has passed away at age 76. Lewis was famous for his role in the TV program “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and the movie “Robin Hood: Men in Tights”. He died peacefully at his home in Los Angeles after having a heart attack.
His wife, Joyce Lapinsky, thanked everyone for their love and support. Lewis had shared last year that he was living with Parkinson’s disease, a condition affecting the brain.
Lewis started his career in comedy clubs and often appeared on TV shows like “The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson”. He also acted in the sitcom “Anything but Love” with Jamie Lee Curtis. He played a character just like himself on “Curb Your Enthusiasm”. His famous movie roles include Prince John in “Robin Hood: Men in Tights” and a part in the award-winning film “Leaving Las Vegas”.
Lewis had told his fans in a video in 2023 that he was ending his stand-up comedy career after 50 years. He also explained that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease two years earlier.
Despite his disease, Lewis had a positive outlook on life. He stated in a recent interview that he was grateful and accepted his condition. His friend and co-star Larry David called Lewis “the funniest and sweetest person.”
Born in Brooklyn, New York, Lewis openly talked about his struggle with mental health and drugs in his books and comedy. His work will be remembered by his many fans.
