Despite being booed during a dress rehearsal, Israel’s Eurovision contestant, Eden Golan, says she will not be put off. She was rehearsing her song “Hurricane” in Sweden, ahead of the semi-finals. Golan says she is proud to represent her country.
Some people want to stop Israel from being in the contest due to the current war in the Middle East. However, the group running the event (the European Broadcasting Union) has said Israel can still compete.
Controversy has also arisen about Golan’s original song “October Rain” that was switched to “Hurricane”. Golan has also received threats, causing her to stay in her hotel room for safety.
Despite the controversy, the show must go on, as they anticipate political protests in Sweden during the contest.
