Singapore Airlines has made a generous offer to compensate passengers who were injured during a recent flight from London to Singapore that encountered severe turbulence. The airline has pledged to pay $10,000 (£7,800) to those with minor injuries, as stated in a Facebook post. For more serious injuries, an advance payment of $25,000 will be provided to address immediate needs, with further discussions to follow to meet specific circumstances. Unfortunately, a 73-year-old British passenger lost their life during the incident, which occurred over Myanmar and resulted in dozens of injuries. The airline has not yet disclosed how many passengers will be eligible for compensation. Over a hundred individuals from the flight received treatment at a Bangkok hospital. Passengers recounted harrowing experiences, with some being thrown into the air and hitting the cabin ceiling. Apart from offering refunds and delay compensation, Singapore Airlines also arranged for family members to join passengers in Thailand. This incident has highlighted the importance of seatbelt practices on flights, especially during unexpected situations.
