Ford is changing street names at its main office in Dearborn, Michigan. The company is removing the names of famous racer Carroll Shelby from two roads. The names will change in May.
Carroll Shelby Way West will become Raptor Way. Carroll Shelby Way East will change to Navigator Avenue. Ford is also adding new names to other roads. Village Road will be called Mustang Alley and South Pond Road will become Bronco Bend. The project will finish in 2029.
Ford announced the name changes on April 9. The company is renovating its large campus, which is 350 acres. This includes building new offices and spaces for meetings and staff.
A Ford spokesperson said the new names will reflect important Ford products. Carroll Shelby Way was created in 2012 to remember Shelby after he died. However, Ford’s main focus is on trucks and SUVs today, like the F-150, which is very popular in the U.S.
