Gemini on phones quickly answers your questions, but on smart home devices, delays can feel too long when using voice control. To improve this, Google has updated Gemini for Home, making it respond much faster to common commands.
Anish Kattukaran, the Chief Product Officer for Gemini, announced on X that the new update reduces the response time for smart home commands. This change has also lowered the number of errors when commands are given.
Now, Gemini should be about 30–40% quicker at responding to commands like “turn off the lights.” This reduced response time makes using your smart home feel more immediate and natural.
Google has completed this update, meaning users with access to Gemini on their Google Home devices will notice faster replies for many common commands. The aim is for these improvements to enhance the user’s experience significantly.
Currently, Gemini for Home is available only through an invite-onlyEarly Access program in the US and Canada, meaning users must apply to join.
This week marks the second major improvement for Gemini for Home. Earlier this month, Google also enhanced features such as managing multiple homes, categorising devices better, and improving responses to questions about the weather or local news. Google continues to work on fixing bugs and enhancing the overall experience.
