The animation studio Pixar is celebrating a big win with its latest release, “Inside Out 2.” The sequel film has become the company’s biggest movie globally, beating their previous record project, “Incredibles 2.”
The movie smashed the box office during its opening weekend in mid-June, with earningssurpassing $1.251 billion in global ticket sales by Tuesday. These figures edged out “Incredibles 2″ which made $1.243 billion previously.
Not content with records at Pixar, “Inside Out 2” is now eyeing the title of highest-grossing animated film of all time. The current champions holding this position are Disney’s “Frozen” films and Universal’s “The Super Mario Bros. Movie.”
Amidst the success, Pixar is also celebrating strong reviews for the film. Most critics and audiences have given it rave reviews, securing 91% and 96% ratings on popular review platform, Rotten Tomatoes.
“Inside Out 2” couldn’t have come at a better time for Pixar. The company had a few midterm failures due to pandemic woes. However, it appears to be bouncing back with the latest film having secured the highest global grossing film of 2024 title already!
