Project Helix is a new gaming console from Xbox, confirmed by CEO Asha Sharma. This exciting development comes after a presentation at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) that shared important details about the console.
The new system is a hybrid, meaning it can play both console games and PC games. This design aims to attract a wider range of gamers. However, it is important to note that it is still primarily a console.
During the GDC, Microsoft revealed several features of Project Helix. The console will run traditional Xbox games and support PC titles from platforms like Steam and Epic Games. It will use a custom AMD system-on-chip (SoC). This technology combines the central processing unit (CPU) and graphics processing unit (GPU) in one device, enhancing gaming performance.
New features include better lighting effects and improvements that enable the console to process tasks more efficiently. It will also offer a feature called FSR Diamond, which uses machine learning to enhance gameplay visuals and performance. This technology helps games look clearer while maintaining smooth gameplay.
Alpha kits for developers are expected to be available in 2027. This timeline suggests that the console may not be released until several years after the development kits for the previous Xbox were sent out.
