Östlund and Kirsten Dust discuss with Daniel Brühl why ‘Entertainment is on the Decline’

Ruben Öslund, the two-time Palme d’Or winner, recently shared details about his upcoming project, “The Entertainment is Down,” at a press conference in Cannes. The film, set to be ready for Cannes 2026, will be shot entirely on a real 747 airplane. Öslund emphasized the importance of creating an authentic setting for the movie to enhance the audience’s experience.

The storyline revolves around passengers dealing with their own boredom after the entertainment system on a flight malfunctions. The film will focus on a couple’s journey as they navigate through unexpected revelations. Öslund plans to push the boundaries of acting in this project, aiming to engage viewers from start to finish.

In addition to Öslund’s film, other highly anticipated projects were unveiled, including Joachim Trier’s “Sentimental Value” and Tarik Saleh’s “Eagles of the Republic.” With such exciting developments in the film industry, movie enthusiasts have a lot to look forward to in the coming years.
