On the Brit Awards 2024 red carpet, the glamour and excitement was palpable. Known for their flamboyant dress code, the attendees did not disappoint. While some chose to don vibrant ensembles, many others swapped bright colours for solemn black. And, a giraffe made a surprise appearance.
Singer-songwriter Raye, with multiple nominations to her name, shared, “I’ve got tears in my eyes already; I’ve got waterproof eyeliner on.” Her desire to be recognized as an “albums artist” came true in spectacular fashion.
Brits veteran, Dua Lipa, stole the limelight in her black leather ensemble by Donatella Versace. The six-time winner emphasized her love for ‘danger’ in her performances and regaled attendees with her latest number, “Training Season”, as the show opener.
Raye’s contemporary, Becky Hill, nominated for the best dance act, was seen in a black outfit, expressing hopes that Raye has a “history-making evening”. Meanwhile, Abigail Morris from The Last Dinner Party, let her dress do the talking by featuring a line from their song.
Injecting humour into the glamorous event, comic Rob Beckett amused everyone by donning an inflatable giraffe costume. Pop artist Charlie XCX brought the Brits logo to life with her multi-coloured dress while musician Jacob Collier was flamboyant in oversized neon silk attire with flowing purple trousers.
Green Day members, Tré Cool and Billie Joe Armstrong stuck to classic black while Singer Rebecca Ferguson shared her enthusiasm for Raye’s performance and expressed support for a new independent body aimed at preventing bullying in the music industry.
Adding a unique touch was broadcaster Maya Jama, co-host for the evening, embracing mermaid-like aesthetics in her corseted black dress. Meanwhile, another host, Clara Amfo, grabbed attention in her emerald green outfit completed with fishnet tights and platform shoes.
Spice Girl Mel C, Jess Glynne, and former Strictly Come Dancing contestant Fleur East, who proudly flaunted her baby bump, were among other notable attendees who added to the glamourous evening that celebrated the best of British music.
