Ray J surprised fans when he performed in Shreveport, Louisiana, with what appeared to be bleeding eyes and something taped to his chest, just weeks after revealing he has only months to live. The 45-year-old singer, known for his hit “One Wish,” wore sunglasses and fan videos showed what looked like blood dripping from one eye.
Ahead of the February 14 concert, Ray J wrote on Facebook, “I’m putting my life on the line for this show!!” The event also featured other artists, including Kelly Price and Bobby Valentino. Videos shared on social media showed him removing his sunglasses to reveal blood pooled beneath both eyes. He was also seen removing part of his orange jumpsuit, revealing something resembling a heart monitor taped to his chest, with bloody skin around it.
In a backstage video, Ray J addressed concerns about his health, insisting he felt better and chastising anyone who laughed at his situation. He reassured fans, saying, “Hey y’all, we’re perfectly fine, nobody’s sick.”
Last month, Ray J made headlines when he announced he may only have one year left to live. After a severe pneumonia case in January, doctors prescribed him eight medications to manage ongoing heart issues linked to his past struggles with substance abuse. He openly admitted, “I thought I could handle it, but I couldn’t.”
Doctors have advised him to prepare for a possible pacemaker or defibrillator installation and have warned him to avoid alcohol and smoking.
