Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell Surprised the People’s Choice Awards Audience Alongside Natasha Bedingfield

Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell, both known for their acting roles, surprised the audience at the 2024 People’s Choice Awards by bringing Natasha Bedingfield on stage to help announce the award for Female Country Artist.

During the event, Sweeney and Powell introduced the nominees for The Female Country Artist, and in an attempt to quell Powell’s nerves, Sweeney started singing Bedingfield’s 2004 hit “Unwritten.” This was a callback to the pair’s hit romantic comedy, “Anyone But You.”

Despite Sweeney’s efforts, Powell was still feeling anxious about being on stage. However, Sweeney persisted and urged Powell to trust her, leading to a cute, and nostalgic reunion as they sang along to “Unwritten.”

The surprise took a heartwarming turn when Bedingfield herself came to the stage. Bedingfield, dressed in a red flowing gown, belted out the well-known chorus, joining Powell, Sweeney, and the entire audience in a festive singalong.

After their spirited performance, Bedingfield stayed on stage to help the co-stars announce the nominees for The Female Country Star category before crowning Lainey Wilson as the winner in that category.

Fans of the rom-com “Anyone But You” may recall that “Unwritten” was used to calm down Powell’s character in the film and became a vital part of the movie’s soundtrack. The entire cast sang along to the uplifting tune by the film’s end, bringing the early aughts song to a Gen Z audience.

Following the film’s release, “Unwritten” earned over 1.3 million official on-demand streams, and it has been used in countless TikTok videos, leading to its resurgence on social media.

Natasha Bedingfield herself has celebrated the song’s resurgence on TikTok, posting videos and expressing her excitement at the song’s newfound popularity.

The surprise performance and the song’s resurgence have brought back nostalgia for fans of the romantic comedy and introduced a younger audience to the uplifting tune of “Unwritten.”
