Dana Eden, a notable Israeli producer associated with the acclaimed Apple TV espionage thriller series Tehran, was discovered deceased at the age of 52 on Sunday in a hotel room in Athens, Greece. This occurred during the filming of the show’s fourth season, according to reports from Reuters and Israeli networks.
While the precise cause of death remains unverified, local police officials indicated that they are currently investigating it as a possible suicide, based on initial evidence and witness statements. The production company, Donna and Shula Productions, expressed condolences, stating that this is a time of deep sorrow for her family, friends, and colleagues. In response to circulating social media speculation regarding the involvement of Iranian agents, the company asserted that such theories about a criminal or politically motivated death are unfounded.
Israeli public broadcaster Kan also paid tribute to Eden, acknowledging her significant contributions to Israeli television. They stated that she was a key figure within the industry, having played an instrumental role in many of the corporation’s notable productions. Her legacy, both professionally and personally, is expected to endure in Israeli television for years to come.
Greek police reported that Eden’s body was discovered after her brother was unable to contact her multiple times. An autopsy has been ordered to ascertain the cause of death, and investigators have begun examining security camera footage and interviewing hotel staff as part of their inquiry.
The third season of Tehran, featuring Hugh Laurie, has recently premiered. Eden co-created the series along with Moshe Zonder and Maor Kohn. It follows Niv Sultan as a Mossad hacker-agent infiltrating Tehran under an assumed identity, alongside actors Shaun Toub and Shila Ommi. The season also includes performances from Sasson Gabai, Phoenix Raei, and Bahar Pars.
