In 2002, the famous DJ Jam Master Jay from the group Run-DMC was killed. Now, two men have been found guilty of his murder. Sadly, the DJ had known these men for many years. One of the men, who used to be his friend, was even helped in his career by the DJ.
Jam Master Jay, whose real name was Jason Mizell, had grown up in a good family in Queens, New York. Though he got into some trouble as a teenager, he later focused on music and became successful with Run-DMC. However, he stayed close with many people from his old neighborhood. Sadly, some of these people didn’t have good intentions.
After his music career slowed down, Jam Master Jay found himself needing more money. He tried other businesses, like starting his own music label and brokering drug deals.
Many people who knew the DJ expressed their sadness about his involvement in drugs. Some said that he was just around the wrong people and that he wasn’t really a drug dealer himself.
In the end, his close relationships with some dangerous people led to his murder. It took almost twenty years for the guilty men to be arrested. At the trial, one of the men, Karl “Little D” Jordan Jr, was said to have shot the DJ. Another man, Ronald “Tinard” Washington, was also found guilty. Both men were known to Jam Master Jay and his family.
This news brought relief to some of his family members, but it was sad to remember that many of the DJ’s close family members, who wanted justice for him, passed away before the arrests were made.
