When Sara Young found out her boyfriend was flying through an airport near her, she acted quickly. This Dallas resident bought a $70 plane ticket to see him because he had only a 30-minute layover. Young, who is 21 years old, is dating an active military member, so she did not want to miss this chance to meet him.
Young shared that they met at the Dr. Pepper factory in Waco, Texas, and they have been together for just over six months. She spent the money on the ticket even though she did not actually use it. While she knew he was coming, she felt grateful for the short time they could be together.
On February 6, Young posted a video on TikTok about their quick meeting. She called it a “blessing” and wished to show other military spouses that life can work out in surprising ways. Her video quickly gained attention, reaching over 2 million views. Young enjoys seeing long-distance reunions on TikTok and was surprised by the support for her video. She also wanted to remind military partners that it can be tough sometimes, but they should not give up.
