Evolutions in Modern Warfare 3 have caused a disconcert among the player base as of late. It would appear a recent modification has hindered one of the most favored killstreaks, rendering it uncontrollable entirely.Â
Traditionally, within the paradigm of Call of Duty’s multiplayer faction, killstreaks have occupied a pivotal role. Tracing back to earlier iterations such as Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and World at War, these killstreaks were immutable and consequent to pre-set conditions. Accruals of three kills would reward you with a UAV, five would merit an airstrike and seven, an augment tad further.Â
The original Modern Warfare 2 broke with tradition, enabling players to select their preferred killstreak rewards. Despite periodic changes in the set of killstreak offerings, the ability to cherry-pick three rewards has become an indelible part of the gaming experience. Teeming with excitement was the moment when we met the Cruise Missile formerly known as the Predator Missile, which afforded individual players the thrill of steering a missile strike up until its climactic impact.Â
A Storm as the Cruise Missile Fails to Respond in Modern Warfare 3
This once favored and controllable killstreak has held a perennial appeal for the Call of Duty multiplayers. However, currents seem to have changed in Modern Warfare 3, released in 2023. A wave of complaints followed the game’s update on February 21, with players claiming that their erstwhile controllable missile strike was rendered “defective” due to the inability to control its landing coordinates. Responses varied from disgruntled players sharing experiences of immovable launches landing off the map, to further venting, describing the erstwhile maneuverable Cruise Missile as being “resistant to any attempts of direction.”
Other grievances involve a conspicuous malfunction in the ACS field upgrade. Players contend that despite successful deployment, the upgrade fails to uphold or capture objectives on behalf of the user. The tangible dissatisfaction amongst the gaming community leaves a question hanging in the balance – will the developers hasten to redress these malfunctions with an imminent update? Until this question is answered, the player base continues to grapple with their discontent.
