Nasir recently left a store, confidently navigating through police and barricades, to sell his Royal Pop watches, earning $100 bills totaling $2,300 from a collector. He aims to continue trading until he can afford an actual Royal Oak watch with a skeleton dial, which sells for around $86,800. During our conversation, Nasir showed me a video detailing his plan to buy the watch before his birthday on August 15. He intends to trade a lower-end Rolex, such as a Datejust or an Oyster Perpetual, next.
Many others were also eager to flip their Royal Pops for profit. Giovanni, who runs a handbag brand, managed to acquire three during the release. Despite waiting for 21 hours, he had to purchase them for between $2,000 and $2,800 each. He found buyers willing to pay $5,000 each for his watches. Giovanni commented on the situation, stating, “Everybody’s happy. It’s capitalism at its best.”
The reselling market for Royal Pops is thriving. Over the weekend, more than 1,400 units sold through StockX, with an average price of $1,377 per watch. Additionally, lanyards sold for around $205. Eleven buyers opted for the complete set, averaging $11,570, while the retail price would be $3,240. Some individuals even sold sets on eBay for notably higher prices, with one set fetching $27,900. The latest trends suggest strong demand in the reselling market, but it remains to be seen how long this will last.
