Almost a year after its announcement and nine months later than planned, the Trump Mobile T1 phone has finally been released, though it appears different from the original design. This launch is significant as it marks the entry of a politically themed mobile device into the competitive smartphone market.
The Trump Mobile T1 began shipping this week. CNET had placed a preorder with a deposit of $100 back in June 2025. Unlike most phone companies that reserve special review units for journalists, Trump Mobile expedited CNET’s shipment. It remains unclear if regular customers who preordered their phones have received them.
Trump Mobile initially launched in June 2025 with a monthly plan costing $47.45. The T1 was meant to be made in the US and to launch in August 2025. However, the company later abandoned the “made in the US” claim due to manufacturing challenges and delayed the release.
In the past month, the revised Trump Mobile website showcased a newly designed T1 phone, the third redesign. This followed a demonstration of a near-production model by Trump Mobile executives in early February. The launch had been postponed due to production difficulties, which the company attributed to the need for stringent quality testing.
Trump Mobile’s CEO, Pat O’Brien, acknowledged the challenges in the tech industry, stating that delays were unavoidable but necessary to ensure a high-quality product. As the holiday weekend approaches, there are plans for real-world testing of the device, with live updates expected on its performance.
