A SpaceX rocket crashed into the moon early on Wednesday. This incident created a new crater and sent some moon dust into space.
After the crash, new videos and photos were shared. Some of these showed a rocket before it hit the moon, but they were not real. However, other true images are now available.
José M. Madiedo, a scientist in Spain, shared a video of the crash. The video shows the rocket hitting the moon and debris flying into space. People could not see the crash with the naked eye.
The Korea Aerospace Research Institute shared images taken by a satellite. These images show a small new crater on the moon’s surface.
SpaceX launched the rocket on January 15, 2025. It was not meant to crash into the moon. However, changes in the sun and other forces sent it onto the lunar surface. NASA was not worried about the crash because the moon is hit by meteoroids often.
