Prince Harry’s accommodation plans in London faced confusion after Buckingham Palace denied he would stay there. This comes as he prepares for a five-day visit to the UK, alone, as police protection for him and his family reportedly did not happen.
A spokesperson for Harry said he had accepted an invitation to stay at Buckingham Palace. However, the palace then stated Harry would not stay there because he missed a deadline to confirm the invitation. Sources suggest that Buckingham Palace requires prior notice to host guests and that multiple requests for clarification went unanswered.
According to reports, the accommodation offer was formally declined on Saturday, and then accepted late, after the deadline had passed. The Duke’s team pointed out that they were confused by the palace’s change, stating it was unclear why the offer was retracted after being accepted.
This visit marks a countdown to the Invictus Games in Birmingham, which Harry founded for wounded veterans in 2014. It was also set to be the first family trip back to Britain in four years for Harry’s wife, Meghan, and their children, Archie and Lilibet. However, they will not join him in London after he was reportedly denied royal protection. Additionally, Harry is waiting for a court ruling in a lawsuit against Associated Newspapers over alleged illegal information gathering.
