Scientists show 240 million-year-old fossil called ‘Chinese dragon’

Scientists now understand what a very old sea animal looked like. They are using new fossils they found. This animal lived 240 million years ago. It is called Dinocephalosaurus orientalis.

Scientists first knew about this animal in 2003 from China. Now, they found more examples of it. Nick Fraser is a scientist. He said that, the animal looked like a dragon from China.

The bones of this animal were first seen more than 10 years ago. A person named Li Chun found them. He saw a small bone in a big rock in China. Then he found other bones near some pigs.

Scientists learned that the animal had a long neck. It had 32 bones in its neck. They think the long neck helped it eat. But they do not know for sure.

Scientists compare this “Chinese dragon” to another old sea animal. It also had a long neck. The other animal lived at the same time in Europe and China. Both animals looked similar. The “Chinese dragon” had many bones in its neck and body. It was good at living in the ocean. But scientists do not know what both animals look like today.
