The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has stated that the COVID-19 vaccine does not cause sudden heart death in healthy young people. This information comes from a study carried out between June 2021 and December 2022. The study looked at the medical records of 1,292 young people from Oregon, USA who died from unknown heart problems.
The CDC found no link between the vaccine and sudden heart death. The vaccine is still recommended for everyone aged six months or older.
Some people had concerns about the vaccine because of reports of myocarditis, a condition causing heart inflammation, especially in young men. These reports came about when the vaccine was first made available to young people in 2021. This led the CDC to investigate the issue.
According to the data, the risk for heart problems was higher after a COVID-19 infection than after the vaccine. Therefore, the CDC recommends vaccination and booster shots for people over six months old to prevent COVID-19 and any serious complications or deaths.
