John Fogerty, the founder of Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR), says his wife saved his life during a difficult time in his career. In a recent interview, the 80-year-old musician talked about a hard period after a legal dispute with his record company over his song ownership. He credits his wife, Julie, for helping him recover from his struggles.
Fogerty described how he felt deeply unhappy and turned to alcohol. He said, “If I hadn’t met her, I probably would be dead.” He felt disconnected from the world and struggled with negative feelings.
Fogerty met Julie in 1986 while touring. He said he should have celebrated the success of his album “Centerfield,” but he felt miserable instead. After their marriage in 1991, they had three children: Shane, Tyler, and Kelsy.
In January 2023, Fogerty finally regained the rights to his songs after decades of fighting the record company. He expressed joy in owning his music again and is excited about future opportunities. Julie also shared her happiness about this long-awaited milestone for her husband.
