Morgan Motor Company has unveiled its latest model, the Supersport 400, which is its most powerful roadster to date. This new vehicle offers nearly 400 horsepower, combining striking vintage aesthetics with impressive performance, making it a significant entry in the sports car market.
The Supersport 400 resembles the Morgan Plus Four, but it is a new version of the Supersport model launched last year. This model is built on an innovative bonded aluminium structure first introduced with the Aero 8, while it retains an ash wood frame, a nod to traditional craftsmanship. With a powerful output of 396 horsepower, the car promises a thrilling driving experience.
The vehicle’s engine is derived from BMW, using a variation of the B58 engine found in models like the M340i and Supra. The current tuning increases power to 396 horsepower, compared to the 330 horsepower in the regular Supersport. It is fitted with an 8-speed automatic transmission that delivers power to the rear wheels. Buyers have the option of upgrading to a limited-slip differential for enhanced performance.
Inside, the Supersport 400 features a modernised interior, with stylish white-on-black gauges and a blend of leather and Alcantara materials. The car starts at over $152,000, but the availability in the US remains uncertain due to existing logistical challenges. However, production is set to begin in May, and interested customers may need to wait until then to secure their vehicle, ideally in the attractive Horizon Blue colour.
