SpaceX launched its Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral, Florida, on July 30. The rocket took off at 3:10 a.m. EDT. It carried a secret package for the National Reconnaissance Office.
The weather was mostly good for the launch. The forecast said there was a 70 percent chance of suitable weather. However, some clouds and storms could still affect the launch.
After about 8.5 minutes, the Falcon 9 booster came back and landed safely. It landed at Landing Zone 2 in Cape Canaveral. This was the 18th landing at this place and the 642nd booster landing for SpaceX.
The NROL-95 mission was important. It was the third mission for the National Reconnaissance Office using a Falcon 9 rocket. This mission is part of a bigger plan called the National Security Space Launch Phase 2. This plan is managed by the U.S. Space Force. SpaceX got the contract for this mission in August 2024.
