The new technology, called Samsara, is installed on all 189 buses in the district. Each bus already had cameras, but now the AI system will track each driver’s behavior. The system can recognize if a driver is distracted, such as looking away from the road or using a cell phone. It can also monitor how the bus is being driven. This new system will help improve safety for students and drivers. The district is also using a GPS program called Wayfinder to pre-program bus routes, making it easier for drivers to navigate. The district spent about $500,000 on this new technology to prioritize student safety.
