Turner was trying to organise his life with Theresa. They were figuring out their living situation. That’s when he found out about his sickness. He talked about this in an interview with People.

Actually, Turner went to the doctor because of a hurt in his shoulder. But the doctor found something else. The doctor said there was bad news in his blood report. Later, he was told he had cancer.

Turner’s has a type of cancer that affects the bones. Sadly, there is no cure for it. This is serious and affects his decisions. When he heard about the cancer, he was shocked.
