Rapper Mystikal Sentenced to 20 Years for Rape

Rapper Mystikal has received a 20-year prison sentence after admitting guilt to raping a woman at his Louisiana home in 2022. This case has drawn attention due to the severity of the crime and the rapper’s previous legal troubles.

During a court session, the victim requested the maximum sentence. She described the attack, stating that Mystikal choked her and forcibly raped her. The rapper, in turn, acknowledged the seriousness of his actions, saying that if he had done that to someone, he would deserve the maximum penalty.

Mystikal, whose real name is Michael Tyler, was initially charged with first-degree rape and false imprisonment. In March, he pleaded guilty to lesser charges of third-degree rape. However, last Friday, he attempted to revoke his guilty plea, claiming he did not have enough time to consider the consequences. His motion indicated he experienced significant emotional distress and felt pressured to decide quickly.

The allegations against Mystikal also included accusations of beating, choking, and robbing the woman. The victim reported that he stole her keys and phone and raped her while she searched for money he had taken. After the incident, he allowed her to leave but only after forcing her to send him money via CashApp.

Had he been convicted of the original charges, Mystikal, 55, could have faced a life sentence. His past includes a six-year prison term for a sexual assault in 2004 and various other domestic abuse charges.
