Tory Lanez Hospitalized Following Prison Stabbing Incident

Share

Tory Lanez, the rapper currently serving a prison sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in 2020, was hospitalized early Monday morning after being stabbed by another inmate at a California prison.

Known legally as Daystar Peterson, he is reported to be in stable condition following the attack, which occurred at approximately 7:20 a.m. in the California Correctional Institution located in Tehachapi. According to a law enforcement official, the assailant used a makeshift shank. Staff promptly responded by activating 911 and providing medical aid to Peterson, as per California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation spokesperson Pedro Calderón Michel. He was subsequently transported via ambulance to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

The California Correctional Institute, alongside the Kern County District Attorney’s Office, is actively investigating the incident. The Office of the Inspector General has also been notified. The motive behind the stabbing remains uncertain; however, it has been confirmed that Peterson’s injuries are not life-threatening, as reported by TMZ.

Peterson’s legal representative has yet to respond to inquiries regarding this incident. The 32-year-old Canadian artist was sentenced to ten years in state prison in August 2023, following gun-related charges from the shooting of the Grammy-winning Megan Thee Stallion (real name Megan Pete). Convicted in December 2022, Peterson faced various charges, including assault with a firearm.

Even from behind bars, he continues to face legal challenges, as Megan filed for a restraining order in December 2024, claiming he persisted in harassing her through online channels. A judge granted this request in January, extending the restraining order until 2030.
