However, this unprecedented spectacle also invited an exciting exploration of diverse screen configurations, alongside initial demonstrations of new gadgets from global tech giants. Among these industry-leading corporations, Motorola spurred considerable intrigue. They showcased an innovative concept smartphone capable of bending along a spine-inspired hinge, transforming as per user comfort, even moulding around one’s wrist.
This ground-breaking ‘adaptive display concept’, drafted by the highly esteemed brand and now a part of Lenovo’s vast technological empire, features an interface that changes its visual and functional aspects as it bends. The visual representation morphs not only to embrace physical flexibility but to mirror its user’s preference dynamically. In a charming twist of attention to detail, the device is complemented by a futuristic feature that conceptualizes a custom background to coordinate with the user’s outfit.
Beyond the realm of flexible screens, this futuristic mobile world congress embraced a global shift towards more interactive screen dynamics, ushering in the era of expandable screens. Tecno, a pioneering brand under Chinese firm Transsion, unveiled the avant-garde Phantom Ultimate. This cutting-edge model features a screen capable of expanding horizontally at the push of a button, challenging preconceived notions of the physical restrictions of devices.
Taking a step further in escalating the level of user-device interaction, Humane, a seasoned player in the AI sphere, introduced the AI Pin. This breakthrough innovation, tiny enough to attach to your clothing, comes equipped with an integrated camera and a voice-assistant, capable of answering spoken queries. Its tour-de-force, however, is an experiential laser projector that illustrates a menu on your hand, navigated effortlessly through hand gestures.
In the augmented reality space, Oppo and Tecno presented their promising prototypes. Oppo gave the world its first glimpse into their Air Glass 3, a pair of augmented reality glasses featuring a smart assistant, blending artificial intelligence seamlessly with virtual visualization. Tecno, not far behind, projected their vision with an augmented reality glasses product furnished with a gaming controller, enabling users to engage in video games on a plausibly large screen.
The gleaming exhibition also welcomed Samsung’s Galaxy Ring, signifying the technology mammoth’s trailblazing venture into the world of smart rings. These futuristic rings come equipped with sensors capable of tracking elements such as heart rates and sleep patterns. Samsung aims to present this novelty, in conjunction with its smartphone and smartwatch, as a comprehensive health-performance tracking system.
But the spectacle was not confined to screens and wearables, Tecno introduced their robot, the Dynamic 1 – a charming imitation of a German Shepherd. Guided by beats, it danced, mimicking movements and gestures of a dog. Xiaomi, another Chinese powerhouse, also showcased its strides in the EV space, presenting tje SU7, its first European prototype electric vehicle.
Fuelled by years of emphasizing its smartphones’ camera prowess, Xiaomi launched its flagship Xiaomi 14. This year, Xiaomi leapfrogged its competitors by not only improving its camera technology but introducing a professional photography kit that transforms the smartphone to a level paralleling a DSLR camera.
