For almost three decades, the researchers, perpetuating a cumulative quest for knowledge, have uncovered fossils of dinosaurs and various other species from Cruzy, a quaint village nestled in southern France. However, Boschetto’s fortuitous find in the neighbouring Montouliers led the academic explorers to essentially unchartered territories where fossilized remnants lay harboured.
Boschetto and the team, principally consisting of dedicated volunteers, decided to practice prudence and discretion concerning their 2022 acquisition. They kept the groundbreaking discovery under wraps for a period of two years, striving to safeguard the site and “debar potential damage during the extraction of the most substantial fragments,” he divulged in an electronic correspondence with CBS news.
Over this two-year period, resolute in their purpose, Boschetto and his associates conducted several rigorous 10-day excavations at the site, leading to them unearth dinosaur skeletons retaining an exceptional state of preservation – an extremely uncommon attribute in such circumstances.
The crown jewel of the unearthed specimens is undoubtedly a titanosaurus – a seemingly eminent herbivore of Europe during their era, standing an impressive 10 meters (about 33 feet) in length.
