Crafting a list of the best performances of the year is always a tough task. The challenge lies not in thinking of deserving people but in deciding who to include in the limited slots we have.
We’ve made it even harder by focusing on shows that didn’t make it to our individual top 10 lists or our list of favorite episodes. We also limited ourselves to only one actor per show. This is not because we don’t recognize the talent of performers like Andrew Scott in Ripley or Jessica Gunning in Baby Reindeer. We just want to showcase a variety of incredible performances from the past year.
Even with these restrictions, we still regret not being able to include all the amazing actors. Here are just a few of our favorite performances from 2024:
Chloe Guidry in Under the Bridge, Manny Jacinto in The Acolyte, Stephen McKinley Henderson in A Man on the Inside and The Madness, Marcello Hernandez in Saturday Night Live, Kathryn Hunter in Black Doves, Richard Kind in multiple shows, Cristin Milioti in The Penguin, Natasha Rothwell in How to Die Alone, Megan Stott in Penelope, and Hoa Xuande in The Sympathizer.
