Embracing Our Multitudes: Living in Multiple Realities

Note: This story has spoilers from “Black Mirror” Season 7, Episode 4, “Plaything.”

In “Black Mirror,” most guest stars do not come back, but Will Poulter is one of the few. He was asked to play his role as Colin Ritman again in the new episode “Plaything.” Colin is a video game creator.

Will said, “Charlie Brooker told me that Colin has time-traveling ideas. He can come back in different times. I was very happy to get the call to return.”

In “Plaything,” Colin is in the 1990s. He shows a new video game to a journalist named Cameron. This game is linked to a cold case. It’s unclear if Colin’s two versions meet, but it seems unlikely because of what happens in “Bandersnatch.”

Will is excited to play Colin again. He believes that Colin wants to make games that help people. He hopes Colin can exist in different times and continue telling stories.

“Black Mirror” Season 7 is now streaming on Netflix.
