Legal filings submitted in Texas reveal that the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has identified D4vd as a target in its inquiry. These documents include requests for testimony from his family members, specifically his father, mother, and brother, starting from February 11. The documents suggest D4vd may be implicated in the crime of murder.
Further details have emerged regarding the discovery of Rivas’s remains. On September 8, 2025, investigators found a black cadaver bag in the trunk of D4vd’s Tesla. When opened, the bag revealed a decomposed head and torso, covered in insects and emitting a strong smell of decay. Subsequent examination uncovered that the body parts had been dismembered.
Initially, these records were sealed in California but became accessible through a Texas court case involving D4vd’s family, who argued that the subpoenas were too vague. A prosecutor argued in court that it was reasonable to expect family members to be questioned, considering the situation.
The Texas First District Court of Appeals denied requests from the family to avoid testifying. In response, D4vd’s legal team filed a new appeal with the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, which then temporarily halted the lower court’s order.
