Get ready for exciting Pokémon battles as Pokémon Champions launches on the Nintendo Switch on Wednesday, April 8, 2026. Alongside the game, players can purchase the Pokémon Champions + Starter Pack, which offers benefits like increased Pokémon storage and an additional battle song. Players using the Nintendo Switch 2 will receive a free update, enhancing graphics for a more immersive experience.
In Pokémon Champions, players will engage in familiar battles using mechanics from earlier titles, including Pokémon types, Abilities, and moves, all of which allow for diverse strategic options. A mobile version of the game is also set to release, enabling cross-platform battles between Nintendo Switch and mobile devices.
The game will connect with Pokémon HOME, allowing players to use Pokémon from previous series and Pokémon GO. This feature enhances gameplay by facilitating team-building with beloved characters.
Among the Pokémon featured in Pokémon Champions are Mega Meganium, Mega Emboar, and Mega Feraligatr, known from Pokémon Legends: Z-A. These creatures, after undergoing Mega Evolution, will introduce new Abilities. For instance, Mega Meganium will possess the Ability Mega Sol, which allows it to harness moves as if under intense sunlight. Mega Emboar will feature the Mold Breaker Ability, making its moves immune to the target’s Abilities. Meanwhile, Mega Feraligatr’s Ability, Dragonize, transforms Normal-type moves into Dragon-type ones and increases their power by 20%.
Whether aiming for success in Ranked Battles or enjoying relaxed Casual Battles, Pokémon Champions aims to provide entertainment when it releases on April 8.
