Daveigh Chase, ‘The Ring’ Star and Lilo Voice, Dies at 35

Former child actor Daveigh Chase has died at the age of 35. Her father, John Schwallier, confirmed that she passed away in a Los Angeles hospital due to complications from bacterial meningitis and a blood infection. He also mentioned that she was suffering from severe malnutrition.

Chase was living near the hospital and was homeless. This situation highlights the struggles she faced in her later years. In 2002, she became famous as the voice of Lilo in Disney’s popular film “Lilo & Stitch.” The movie tells the story of a young Hawaiian girl who adopts an alien disguised as a dog.

She also voiced Lilo in the television adaptation, “Lilo & Stitch: The Series,” from 2003 to 2006. In the same year, she gained attention for her role as the ghost Samara in the horror film “The Ring.” For her performance, she won the MTV Movie Award for Best Villain in 2003 and reprised her role in “The Ring Two” in 2005.

Reports indicate that Chase was living with her boyfriend before her death, but her father expressed uncertainty about their relationship. He noted that he had seen a video of her in September and did not understand why she had not received medical help. John Ryan Jr., her former manager, remembered her as a close friend and easy to work with for nearly 20 years.
