Sony will stop making physical discs for new PlayStation games from January 2028. This marks a big change in the gaming world as it moves to digital sales.
On Wednesday, Sony Interactive Entertainment shared this news on its PlayStation Blog. From January 2028, all new games will be sold only digitally. Gamers will buy these games from the PlayStation Store or retailers, but they will not be available on physical discs.
Sony said many players now prefer to buy and download games online. The company noted that music, movies, and PC games have also moved to digital formats. This change helps reduce costs and gives players instant access to their games.
Games that are already released or set to come out on disc before January 2028 will still be available in physical form. New digital releases will give players more options for buying games.
Sony aims to improve how players access games. The company will keep working to offer the best gaming experience for its fans.
