Ted Danson has talked about his life after the TV show “Cheers” ended in 1993. In a recent podcast episode, the 78-year-old actor shared his feelings about that time. He said that he was not aware of what was happening because his personal life was very difficult.
Danson explained that he didn’t know himself well during the last year of “Cheers.” He felt he needed to grow up quickly and learn more about himself. He visited a mentor who helped him with this. Danson wanted to stop lying to himself and become more mature.
He mentioned in a podcast last year that he was not afraid of being typecast, which means being stuck as a certain type of character. He said the change felt easy because he was focused on his personal problems after the show ended.
Danson played Sam Malone on “Cheers” for its entire run of 11 seasons. After the show, he took on various roles in different series, including “Becker” and “CSI.” He is now starring in “Man on the Inside,” where he plays a retired professor who becomes an undercover spy in a nursing home.
