The new video game “EverQuest Legends” will include the popular Kerran cat race as playable characters. This announcement was made at the San Diego Comic-Con event on Saturday, just days before the game’s launch on July 28.
David “Sysyphus” Youssefi, the executive producer, shared that the Kerran will be the same as those seen on Kerra Isle in the original game. He explained that the team is updating the original designs, making them playable for the first time.
“EverQuest Legends” is developed by the new studio Game Jawn, in partnership with Daybreak, which published the original 1999 game. Fans have long wanted to have the Kerran included, although they were not playable in the first “EverQuest,” they appeared in “EverQuest II.”
Youssefi noted that the Kerran race is loved by many, and its inclusion was based on both internal and external demands from fans. The team even named non-player characters (NPCs) in the game after their real cats to show their affection for the Kerran.
The game aims to balance both nostalgia and modern gaming features. It will offer elements for casual and solo players, as well as support groups and raids. Youssefi believes “EverQuest Legends” will allow both new and old players to enjoy an upgraded version of the classic game experience.
