Ben Affleck expressed great joy after winning “Who Wants To Be a Millionaire,” leaping up to embrace his partner, former “Jeopardy!” champion Jamie Ding. The two reached the final round in Wednesday’s episode of the ABC game show, which is hosted by Jimmy Kimmel. They tackled a question about turkeys pardoned by U.S. presidents, needing to identify the names that were not linked to these pardoned birds.
After careful consideration, Ding suggested, “So we’re gonna say D, Spaghetti and Meatball?” Affleck agreed. There was a moment of uncertainty before the answer was confirmed, leading to visible relief and excitement as they realised they had answered correctly.
The pair were competing for charity, and their winnings will go to the Eastern Congo Initiative. This nonprofit, co-founded by Affleck in 2010, supports communities in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Affleck mentioned his long-term commitment to the organisation, highlighting the current Ebola crisis in the region.
Ding’s impressive background as a former “Jeopardy!” contestant contributed to their success, as he achieved an extraordinary 31-game winning streak on that show. Presently, Ken Jennings holds the record with 74 consecutive wins.
It is not clear when this episode of “Who Wants To Be a Millionaire” was filmed. However, Affleck’s win aired just after his mother’s death from pancreatic cancer on June 2, as noted in her obituary, which revealed that her final wish was to attend her grandson’s high school graduation.
