Cristin Milioti was preparing to take her dog, Rupert, for a walk when her phone began buzzing incessantly.
The Penguin actress quickly realized that she had received a nomination for the 2025 Golden Globe Awards for her remarkable portrayal of mob heiress Sofia Falcone.
“It was incredibly exciting, truly exhilarating,” she shared with The Hollywood Reporter. “I’m filled with joy. When I think about the talented women in my category, it’s surreal. I find it hard to express just how overwhelmed I feel to be nominated alongside such brilliance.”
Milioti’s nomination came for best performance by a female actor in a limited series, anthology series, or a motion picture made for television. She shares the spotlight with acclaimed actresses such as Cate Blanchett (Disclaimer), Jodie Foster (True Detective: Night Country), Sofía Vergara (Griselda), Naomi Watts (Feud: Capote vs. The Swans), and Kate Winslet (The Regime).
Additionally, the HBO crime drama set in the Batman universe has garnered a nomination for best limited series, with Milioti’s co-star Colin Farrell also recognized for his performance in the male actor category.
“I’m absolutely thrilled for [showrunner] Lauren LeFranc and Colin,” she expressed. “Their brilliance is undeniable, and the prospect of celebrating our work together is genuinely exciting.”
Although The Penguin is classified as a limited series, executive producer Matt Reeves and the production team are contemplating a potential second season. Milioti expressed her enthusiasm: “It’s my greatest hope to reprise my role as Sofia Falcone. I haven’t received any concrete updates yet, but I’m eager to hear more.”
