Emilia Pérez leads the nominations for the 2025 Golden Globes, announced live during a press conference at the Beverly Hilton. Her film received a record-breaking 10 nominations, surpassing last year’s title, “Barbie,” which had nine. Other top nominees include “The Brutalist” with seven nods, “Conclave” with six, and “Anora” and “The Substance” with five each. On the TV side, “The Bear” leads with five nominations, followed by “Only Murders in the Building” and “Shogun” with four each.
Netflix dominates with 26 nominations (13 in film, 23 in TV), followed by A24 in film with 12 mentions. HBO/Max is second in TV with 14 nominations. The nominees were announced by Mindy Kaling and Morris Chestnut and streamed live on various platforms.
The Golden Globes celebrate excellence in both film and TV, with categories for cinematic achievements and stand-up comedy performances on TV, introduced last year. Categories like Best Motion Picture and Best Director recognize outstanding work in different genres.
The 82nd annual Golden Globe Awards will air live on CBS and stream on Paramount+ on January 5, 2025. The ceremony will be hosted by Nikki Glaser, with Viola Davis and Ted Danson receiving prestigious awards for their contributions to TV.
This year’s awards are especially significant as they are the second edition since the Hollywood Foreign Press Association was replaced by a diverse group of voters from around the world.
