Google Phone introduces new audio emojis for Android, including a fart button

Get ready for a new feature on Android phones that is sure to bring a smile to your face – or at least a chuckle. According to a report by 9to5Google, Android users on the beta update channel are being treated to a new feature in the Google Phone app called “Audio Emoji.”

This fun new addition to phone calls allows callers to select from a soundboard of six different sound effects that both parties on the call can hear. The options include clapping, laughing, celebrations, a sad trombone, a “ba dum tss,” and yes, even a fart sound effect. While the buttons to play these sounds are emojis, the effects themselves are sure to add a touch of humor to your conversations.

In addition to the sound effects, audio emojis also come with short animations to accompany them. For example, there is a particularly quirky animation of a “chocolate ice cream cone” squishing to the ground surrounded by flies – you can probably guess which sound effect that goes with.

While the feature is still rolling out slowly and not available to all users just yet, those who find themselves with the Audio Emoji menu can easily disable it by clicking on an “X” in the top right corner. And don’t worry about being bombarded with sound effects – there is a cooldown period between emojis.

With Google I/O just around the corner, it will be interesting to see what other surprises the tech giant has in store for us. In the meantime, enjoy adding a little extra fun to your phone calls with Audio Emoji.
