Sean “Diddy” Combs achieved a modest legal triumph when a judge admonished federal agents suspected of disclosing sensitive information in his ongoing sex trafficking case.
Combs’ legal counsel had sought a gag order against federal authorities following a report by The Post that illuminated the musician’s alleged disturbing activities referred to as “Freak Offs.” This report included comments from a federal law enforcement source associated with the investigation, who described the orgies as “sick s–t.”
In response to these concerns, Manhattan federal judge Arun Subramanian issued a stern warning late Friday, directing federal prosecutors and law enforcement personnel involved in the case to adhere strictly to existing regulations that prohibit the release of grand jury materials or any other confidential information that could jeopardize the integrity of the trial.
Judge Subramanian underscored that any inappropriate comments made by agents linked to the prosecution are unequivocally improper. “To be clear, this order does not stem from any determination of misconduct thus far,” he noted, emphasizing that the court has not made any judgments regarding allegations of potential leaks related to the case.
The primary objective of this ruling is to safeguard against any future actions that might compromise the fairness of the trial. The judge also remarked, “The Court will take appropriate action for any violation of the rules.”
Earlier in the month, Diddy’s legal team sought a hearing concerning allegations that officials from the Department of Homeland Security had leaked incriminating surveillance footage from 2016, which depicted Diddy assaulting his former partner, Cassie Ventura, in a hotel corridor. This hearing, which remains unresolved, aims to prevent any further inappropriate disclosures from the federal investigation to the media.
Combs faces serious charges of racketeering and sex trafficking, accused of managing his record label, Bad Boy Records, as a “criminal enterprise” for over a decade. Currently in federal detention in Brooklyn, he has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Neither Diddy’s legal representatives nor a spokesperson for the Southern District of New York offered any comments regarding the matter.
