The White House has announced the first “Freedom Fuel” gas station in Philadelphia, selling petrol for $3.47 a gallon. This price is below the market rate and is considered a way to help reduce fuel costs for consumers.
In a post on social media, the White House stated, “President Trump is leading the charge to lower gas prices this summer.” Trump, who is the 47th president, aims to help people save money on fuel.
A White House representative explained that the Freedom Fuel Network is a private company, with 25 gas stations in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. They added that the Trump administration does not finance these stations. The lower prices are possible because the company makes less profit on its fuel.
Freedom Fuel was officially registered in Delaware on June 23. They applied to trademark their logo on July 1. An attorney involved has not commented on the matter.
Gas prices increased significantly after the US and Israel attacked Iran on February 28. Currently, the national average for regular gas is $3.80 per gallon, down from a higher price of $4.56 in mid-May. Diesel fuel costs about $4.77 a gallon now, also up since the conflict began.
The White House shared a video showing customers at the gas station thanking the president for saving them money on fuel. The Freedom Fuel Network operates stations across New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
